Dear colleagues,
On behalf of Queensland Public Libraries Assoc, I’d like to extend a warm invitation to you to attend this year’s
conference celebrating public libraries. Many libraries have faced significant challenges in the past year, either
focussing on merging organisations or dealing with tightening budgets as water and fuel costs bite into Council
finances. The QPLA conference is an important “time-out” from the everyday as we come together to discuss key
issues, take on board new ideas, and of course, share news with colleagues. The conference theme “Future
Thinking – Future Proofing” shifts our focus from current challenges and looks to the future of public libraries,
showcases best practice examples and explores how we’ll get there.
The QPLA Executive has worked in partnership with State Library of Qld to develop and present this conference. We hope the program has something for library staff at all levels and that you find the setting inspirational with the conference venue being the award-winning State Library just across the river from the state of the art, Brisbane Square Library.
